                  Tips for a Successful Session

To ensure a great session with your horse(s) please have your horse(s) groomed a day or two before the session.  Make sure the horses are well fed, a hungry horse can be a disagreeable one. If you are to be in riding habit or costume for owner/horse portraits or under saddle shots, please save clothing changes until just before we are to take those specific shots. Please have extra clothing on hand and ready. Please have any tack or gear your horse may need clean and available.

Please have at least one assistant who is comfortable and familiar with the horse(s) being photographed.  The assistant should be prepared to help get horses positioned, set up and to get the horses attention to get the ears up. The assistant may possibly be in some photos since they will be handling the horse(s), please have them dress accordingly. I will bring various noise makers such as bags and baby rattles. Please have on hand anything you know works with a specific horse.

For women: Even if you normally don’t wear makeup, I recommend at least a minimum coverage foundation or even just a translucent powder on your face, a light coat of mascara, and a lip color that is only slightly darker than your natural lip color as well as a light blush. The powder will help with facial shine and the color will just enhance your features.
